Web Design Thoughts.

I’ve been a little bit obsessed recently trying to find the nicest free Word Press themes available: two reasons: 1, my sister told me making themes for Word Press is a bit of a nightmare. She runs forums and does generally more complicated coding than I do so I took her word for it, and 2, there are some great free ones around.

The one I’m using at the moment is the only one I found that doesn’t mess up all the sub links and sort of looks like a journal design- which I thought went with the “art journal” concept. It’s designed by Infocreek. The Aspire one they designed is also very nice, but I thought I would use Duffy because Halloween is coming up soon.

Edit: Vesper supports sub pages as well. I think I prefer the clean and uncluttered design as well.

I have been tweaking my main site a bit more as well, I’ve made all the pages validate to XHTML 1.0 Transitional and I’ve put a comment form on the contact page which is the free php mail form by Jemjabella who is a great PHP script coder and web developer.

Another of my vices is finding nice free icon sets, I suppose I could make my own, but I don’t have the patience. My sister Katherine is really good at making her own icons, although I know how long it takes her, and it scares me to be honest how obsessive it can get.

I think I will just stick to valid XHTML and CSS coding using my illustration skills at the moment, perhaps I will learn more complicated things in the future, although I can always sub contract Katherine.
