Study’s based on Photo of Sharon Stone

Posted by: Chris   in Illustration, Sketches

These are some relatively quick study paintings based on a photo of Sharon Stone I found on Miles Teves website. (Link) It is not a complete copy of the picture as such; I made the hair bigger, and I don’t think it looks like Sharon Stone anymore. I think she would make a great elf noble. I thought the layered hair was really interesting to paint.

I did a version with the scratches down her face as well as one without, which though a tad morbid was surprisingly fun.

This is using some brushes I have been working on over the past few months as well as techniques I have been developing to paint faster and more intuitively. These took me about 4 hours or so. I will be uploading the brushes I used for this later, I have to test them on my sister first to make sure they work for other people before I do that.

I thought I should stop procrastinating and just get back to the drawing board. Bit like the old saying “stop trying to hit me and just hit me” or something like that.

I’ll be working on an illustrated book project to get rid of my art block, learn some new skills and update my portfolio with something a bit more in depth than the usual “fairy”. I want to show a boarder range of my abilities than I have at present. Wish me luck and if you catch me on the internet just tell me to get back to work please!

Some Minor Updates and Things

Posted by: Chris   in Everyday Life, news

Just to say, I’ve got a twitter account now at twitter.com/fuzzymushroom. I plan on tracking how much tea I drink in a day amongst other things.
I’ve also added some stuff to the resource section in case I haven’t already said.

I re-designed my main portfolio site at www.fuzzymushroom.com.

Please have a look and see what you think. I designed a mermaid sea and coral theme for this re-design.

Coding and Other Things

Posted by: Chris   in Everyday Life, news

I thought I should write something here about what I’ve been up to lately and a few plans etc…

I’m currently wearing my eyes away coding the next incarnation of my website which is going to be a lot more illustrative this time. I’m pretty bored of the minimal look already, seems everyone is doing the glossy web 2.0 thing these days.

I’m also trying to improve the portfolio section and have as few or no pop up gimmicks as possible this time around.

My jaw has just about closed again after looking at the new trailer for tombraider underworld and the gameplay videos. My only concern is that they make it so good my computer will explode when it tries to play it later this year. I have a lot of faith in Crystal Dynamics, the Legacy of Kain series was one of my favourite games.

Things are pretty good at the moment for me which is refreshing to say the least after my boss bullied me out of my job last year and gave me depression. I’ve been exercising for a year and a half now and I’m feeling great again. I’ve even got back into my martial arts practice.

I’ve been very busy in short, even though this website does not always show it.

I bought a mood lamp in the Works the other day as well, and it is really cool. Keeps me company at my computer.

I’ll be making some more you tube videos again soon and providing a set of Corel Painter brushes I’ve been customising.

And if I miss the Beijing Olympic Ending Ceremony I will cry.

That’s all for now I think.

Back Again

   Posted by: Chris   in news

Not that I went anywhere of course.

Sketches and practice things will be posted again soon just to show I’m still alive if anyone wants to know.

I’ve been working on many things over the last few months towards setting up my workplace and business so I apologize for the hiatus of work so far.
